Questions, answered.
Everything about the band, the app, your account, and how Drop keeps your family in charge.
Questions, answered.
Does Drop track my location? +
No. The band has no GPS, no Bluetooth, and no battery. It's a passive NFC chip that's only active for the instant it touches a reader.
Does the band need charging? +
Never. There's no battery and no screen. It works the day it arrives and every day after.
What happens if the band is lost? +
Open the Drop app, turn the band off with one tap, and order a replacement. No personal data lives on the band, so nothing is exposed.
Where does tap to pay work? +
Anywhere contactless payment is accepted, on the global Mastercard network. Drop Pay accounts are issued by Pathward®, N.A., Member FDIC.
Who controls the band? +
You do. Every setting, from the identity profile to the spending, lives in the Drop app, in the account holder's hands.
Is Drop just for kids? +
Drop is for anyone who wants to move through their day without a phone in their hand. Families are where it shines first: kids get real independence while parents hold every key.
How much does a Drop Band cost? +
A Drop Band is $44.95. There is no subscription and no monthly fee to use the band. The Drop app is free on iOS and Android.
What sizes does the band come in? +
Five sizes, measured by circumference: X-Small 140mm, Small 160mm, Medium 180mm, Large 200mm, and X-Large 220mm. The band is elastic fabric, so it stretches to fit, and it is about 14mm wide.
Is the band waterproof? +
The band is water resistant and made from elastic fabric built to survive everyday wear. There is no battery and no electronics to damage, because the chip inside is passive.
What phone do I need for Drop Band? +
The Drop app runs on Android and on iOS 11 or newer, which means iPhone 7 and above. The band itself needs no phone to work at a reader; the phone is only for setting things up and changing them.
How does tap to pay work without a battery? +
The chip inside the band is passive NFC. It has no power source of its own and stays inert until a reader energizes it at close range, then goes inert again the moment contact ends. That is why it never needs charging.
What is stored on the band itself? +
One encrypted payment token, and nothing else. No name, no card number, no login, and no personal data live on the band. Every profile, balance, and permission lives in the Drop ecosystem and is controlled from the account holder's app.
Is my money FDIC insured? +
Drop Pay accounts are issued by Pathward®, N.A., Member FDIC, and funds are insured to applicable limits on a pass through basis.
What security standards does Drop meet? +
The Drop ecosystem is SOC 2 compliant, HIPAA compliant for protected health information, and handles card data exclusively in PCI DSS certified environments. Payments run as tokenized EMV with a fresh single use cryptogram at every tap.
Can someone steal money by scanning the band? +
The band responds only at close range to a payment reader and transmits only a single use token. Spending is capped by the limits the account holder sets, and a found band can be deactivated instantly from the Drop app.
What is Drop Wellness? +
Drop Wellness powered by VivaScore® combines a 30 second camera based scan with optional connected app data into a single wellbeing score from 1 to 100, with plain language guidance to improve it. It is a wellness tool, not a medical device, and it does not diagnose or treat any condition.
Can Drop store emergency information? +
Yes. Drop uses LIFEKEY® digital safety technology, so tapping the band with any smartphone shares the emergency contacts and information the account holder has chosen to make available.
Can organizations issue Drop Bands to members? +
Yes. Schools, camps, teams, campuses, churches, employers, and nonprofits can issue one credential per member for identity, access, wellness, engagement, and payments, managed from a single control layer the organization owns.
